MasterDa
(Teacher) Surya Sen Day, 2023
(Mr.
Surya Sen was a school teacher from Chittagong, eastern Bengal, now Bangladesh,
was a Freedom Fighter for India’s Independence who was brutally murdered by
British Colonial Army.)
Chittagong Braveheart Remembered, Veteran Political
Scientist Presents the Bengal Story
Houston, TX — (March 27th, 2023) — Masterda Surjya Sen Dibosh was observed fourth year in a row in Houston, Texas organized by the Anushilon Somiti USA. On the occasion, veteran political scientist Dr. Sachi Ghosh Dastidar made a presentation on his new book “Bengal’s Hindu Holocaust: The Partition of India and its Aftermath” published by Garuda Prakashan. Prof. Dastidar is Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus, State University of New York, Old Westbury, NY, and founder of Probini Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to educating the poor and the orphaned, and ISPaD: Indian Subcontinent Partition Documentation Project, author of “Bengal’s Hindu Holocaust: Partition of India and its Aftermath” and “Mukti: Free to be Born Again — Partitions of Indian Subcontinent, Islamism, Hinduism, Leftism and Liberation of the Faithful.” Dr. Dastidar who was on a three-city tour presenting his new book made presentations in Austin, Dallas and Houston, Texas.
Masterda (Teacher) Surjya Sen whose name is etched in gold in the
annals of India’s freedom struggle, for waging an armed struggle inside the
British occupied India, serves as a source of inspiration for many who wish to
see Bengal as a whole regain its exalted past as a land that produced a galaxy
of thinkers, intellectuals, spiritualists, educators, scientists and
revolutionaries alike. The region that ushered India into the modern era, is
suffering from intellectual lethargy and political turmoil that can adversely
affect the whole region of Greater India. Remembering the inspirational
sacrifices of the likes of Masterda will rejig the memory of a bygone era when
Bengal had led the whole of Greater India in ushering the modern Renaissance
period. In Houston, glowing tributes to Masterda was paid by Mr. Raja Roy, a
public intellectual, columnist and political activist.
Prof. Dastidar’s book “Bengal’s Hindu Holocaust: Partition of India and its Aftermath” brings up a subject that has been hitherto a taboo in Bengal middle class circles, viz. the Hindu holocaust. Bengal has gone through multiple partitions, riots, wars, famine and genocide. These events, all man-made, have left 3 million Hindus dead, and another 49 million “missing”. The veteran political scientist has painstakingly researched and established the fact that a Hindu Holocaust has occurred in Bengal. However, this holocaust has been disregarded by the world community at large. Even at home in both West and East Bengal (Bangladesh) there is a complete denial of the enormity of the human loss. It remains to be seen whether the world will ever wake up and take cognizance of this genocide of epic proportions.
At the end of the three-city tour, Mr. Pranesh Biswas,
convener of the Anushilon Somiti USA, and the principal organizer, expressed
satisfaction in the fact that Masterda’s birth anniversary has now been
continuously commemorated every March now in its fourth year, and hoped that
the trend catches on all over the USA, Canada, and in Europe. He hoped for the
same in India, East Bengal and rest of diaspora. Anushilon is a global movement
aimed at preservation of Bengal heritage and revival of the classical Indic
culture, to present an inspirational opportunity to the globalized younger
generations to rejuvenate and rebuild as a creative and martial community.
