During
the Good Friday break in school of our granddaughter Shriya Lakshmi, her
parents decided to visit the wonderful island in the Caribbean Sea for a few
days.

In a
direct flight from New York we arrived at Kingstown city, the capital of the
Island Nation, and started our tour immediately. It is wonderful looking
mountainous island, with nice beaches circling the island. One of the most
remarkable experiences was that the island has roads like the United States and
Europe driving on the righthand side of the road, but cars were right-hand
driven like in the U.K., India and Australia. Thus, it was difficult to drive
for folks used in driving in the U.S. In addition, some of the roads were
narrow going up and down in hilly roads in the midst of wonderful scenery. Residents
were very much like other islands and welcomed us as “Indians” not “Americans.”
Once granddaughter Shriya Lakshmi danced outdoor under tropical trees
attracting her and lots of visitors. Some locals were attracted to conch-based
rings and bangles, typical in Bengal and eastern India, that some of our family
members were wearing. On Good Friday during our visit everything was closed that
made our road travel very easy but missed local eateries, shops and museums.
